Amey secures gold for health and safety

Amey one of the UKs leading public and regulated services providers has secured the top accolade for health and safety, exactly one year after the company doubled in size following the acquisition of Enterprise.

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) presented Amey with gold awards for its Government, Consulting, Rail and Strategic Highways and Utilities and Defence divisions, as well as for the company's Fleet and Plant team. In addition, the Consulting, Rail and Strategic Highways team received special recognition for achieving the gold award five years running.

In August last year, Amey’s Built Environment division secured the President’s Award for achieving ten golds in a row and will be reaccredited for 2014 later in the year.

The Gold Award recognises the company’s approach to occupational health and safety, achieving high levels of compliance and ensuring above average safety performance.

Gary Carvell, Group HSEQ Director at Amey said: “I am delighted that once again we have secured gold awards across the business. Throughout the integration of the two companies we ensured that we maintained our continual focus on the health and safety of our employees, customers and subcontractors and these awards are testament to this.”

David Rawlins, RoSPA’s awards manager, said: “The RoSPA Awards encourage the raising of occupational health and safety standards across the board. Organisations that gain recognition for their health and safety management systems, such as Amey, contribute to a collective raising of the bar for other organisations to aspire to and we offer them our congratulations.”

The completion of the acquisition on April 8th 2013 saw Amey become one of the most diverse companies in the UK public and regulated sectors, providing an unrivalled range of services in nearly every area of the UK.
