Amey scoops not one, but six awards

Amey, which is delivering several multi-million pound contracts in the West Midlands, is celebrating after winning six awards for its exemplary health, safety and environmental record.

The firm has won four gold occupational health and safety awards by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) and two national Considerate Constructors Awards.

Judges from RoSPA said Amey prioritises health and safety and communicates clearly with employees and other people.

The Considerate Constructors Awards were presented to Amey for minimising disruption on two schemes that are part of a £275 million contract to manage and maintain the motorway network around the West Midlands on behalf of the Highways Agency.

Amey undertook work on the M5 and M6 at night to reduce congestion and help the travelling public. The firm also reduced its carbon footprint from planning to delivery. This included using local suppliers and subcontractors to help deliver the schemes.

Keith Sexton, health, safety and environment director at Amey, said: “As a leading provider of public services, we are committed to setting standards in health and safety. These awards are testament to the hard work of all our teams in achieving this goal.

“As well as the clear ethical and legal reasons, we believe there is a strong business case for excelling in health and safety. We are constantly striving to provide more for less and having a healthy, happy workforce helps us to hit that target.”
