Amey awarded design and build project for DWP in Swansea

Amey, a provider of critical facilities and asset management services have been awarded a design & build project for a new facility for the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) Centre for Health and Disability Assessments (CHDA) in Swansea, Wales.

The project, which was awarded to Amey through the TR1 framework earlier this year, reflects an aligned objective from DWP and Amey to create public spaces and workplaces that meet the evolving needs of the users.

The new centre will deliver a modern and accessible facility that also meets the BREEAM standards for sustainability and environmental performance. The DWP are committed to future-proofing their estate and working towards Net Zero targets, and the Amey team has developed solutions to support these aspirations.

The facility, which covers an area of over 500 square metres, will cater for people with disabilities and health conditions who are applying for benefits that require a medical assessment. The building features a reception and waiting areas, private assessment rooms, staff offices, meeting rooms, and a kitchen.

The Amey team have worked collaboratively with their designers and supply chain to ensure that the facility meets the highest standards of design, functionality, and sustainability. Construction will start this month and it is hoped that the team will be able to hand back to the DWP by January 24.

Amey is now looking at how it can support the DWP through the TR2 framework agreement.
