Amey set to welcome 12 interns as part of 10,000 Black Interns Programme
Amey, a leading provider of full life-cycle engineering, operations and decarbonisation solutions for transport infrastructure and complex facilities, proudly announces its partnership with the 10,000 Black Interns programme, aimed at fostering diversity and providing valuable opportunities for aspiring professionals from black backgrounds. By joining forces with this prestigious initiative, Amey reaffirms its commitment to building an inclusive workforce and promoting equality within the industry.
During the summer of 2023, Amey will welcome 12 individuals on paid work placements, selected through the rigorous process of the 10,000 Black Interns programme, to experience first-hand the dynamic and vibrant environment within the company. The interns will work across various departments, including Engineering, Consulting, Project Management, IT, Finance, and HR.
In addition to valuable work experience, individuals will participate in a series of personal development modules designed to enhance their professional skills and capabilities. Amey will also provide one-on-one coaching to create a personalised development plan, ensuring their growth and progress throughout the placement, and assign a dedicated buddy and mentor.
As part of its Embracing Difference strategy, the company aspires to welcome talented individuals from diverse backgrounds to apply for Amey’s early careers programmes, including those who complete a work placement with us.
Neetu Khosla, Multicultural Chair and Social Value Manager at Amey, commented: “We would like to enable everyone to feel like they belong at Amey and continue to provide a voice for underrepresented individuals. However, across the industry, there are significant barriers to achieving racial equality in the workplace. By fostering a culture of inclusivity and partnering with a programme like the 10,000 Black Interns, we’re actively working to change the existing norms and we are committed to creating an environment where diverse perspectives are valued, respected, and celebrated.”
The 10,000 Black Interns programme, founded by 10000blackinterns.com, is dedicated to accelerating the careers of Black students and recent graduates through paid internships across a variety of sectors. By offering pre-internship training and development, the programme equips participants with the skills and knowledge required to excel in their chosen fields.
