Amey shines a light on how employers can take action on domestic abuse

Leading infrastructure services and engineering company, Amey, has been awarded Beacon Status by EIDA (Employers’ Initiative on Domestic Abuse) for their commitment to improving how employers take action on domestic abuse. 

One in three women and one in six men will experience domestic abuse in their lifetime, and employer support can change and potentially save lives.  

Amey has joined EIDA membership to help shine a light on an issue that is often hidden, and show its commitment to offering support to any of its people who are experiencing domestic abuse. 

Amey will be introducing a dedicated policy and guidance, support options and will have a team of trained Domestic Abuse Ambassadors.   

Nicola Hill, Head of Employee Relations and Policy, commented,

“We want our people to feel comfortable raising any issues they have and look forward to working with EIDA so that our people don’t see domestic abuse as a taboo subject and can instead talk openly. I’m so pleased that Amey are taking these steps to help people start conversations around topics that are personal, and with the right support in place, we can make a difference to help people lead a better life.”

Amey has been taking bolder steps to support its employees by implementing a range of policies relating to issues that are often seen as non-work-based issues.  

Earlier this year, Amey deployed R;pple’s life saving browser extension across its IT network. This means that if anyone searches for harmful content on an Amey PC, they’ll be signposted to help and support 24/7, giving them encouragement and hope – potentially saving a life.
