Amey recognised as ‘world-leaders’ by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents

The Royal Society for the Prevention of Accident (RoSPA) has awarded Amey four internationally recognised awards for demonstrating high health and safety standards. The RoSPA Awards recognise world-leaders in health and safety practice and every year, nearly 2,000 entrants vie to achieve the highest possible accolade, in what is the UK’s longest-running H&S industry awards.

This year, Amey has been awarded the following accolades across its core businesses:

Transport Infrastructure:

  • Rail - RoSPA President's (13 consecutive Golds) Award
  • Highways - RoSPA Gold Award – 4th consecutive year

Secure Infrastructure:

  • RoSPA Gold Award – 5th consecutive year

Amey Consulting

  • RoSPA President's (13 consecutive Golds) Award

Speaking on the RoSPA award wins, Allan Shanks, HSEQ Director, Amey, said: “Being recognised by RoSPA for our work with two Gold Awards and two President Awards is a fantastic achievement and a testament to the hard work and dedication our people give to health, safety and wellbeing. Thank you to all our people for making this possible.

In 2021, we delivered 97% of our operations without incident and reduced our reportable injury rate by a third, making Amey a safer place to work. To stay focussed, and to keep making improvements, this year our emphasis is on creating a culture of care, moving from rules to relationships, removing risk and ensuring our safety and wellbeing processes enable our people to deliver safe operations every day. Our ambition is to continue to challenge ourselves to ensure that everyone goes home safe and well every day.”

Julia Small, RoSPA’s Achievements Director, said: “This is a fantastic and well-deserved accomplishment. All our award entrants demonstrate their unwavering commitment and passion for keeping people safe at work. By receiving this recognition Amey join like-minded businesses and organisations worldwide, who represent the very best in their approach to Health and Safety. I would like to add my personal thanks for all the work that it has taken to secure this well-deserved award – congratulations to all those involved, who champion and drive up Health and Safety standards every day. You are a fantastic example to others in your sector.”

The RoSPA Awards scheme is the longest-running of its kind in the UK, and receives entries from organisations across the globe, making it one of the most sought-after achievement awards for health and safety worldwide.

Today’s announcement from the infrastructure services and engineering company marks World Day For Safety And Health At Work, which takes place on 28 April. Observed by United Nation’s agency, The International Labour Organisation, the day helps raise awareness and seek the prevention of work-related accidents and ill health around the world. This year’s theme will explore the topic of participation and social dialogue in creating a positive safety and health culture.
