Amey Consulting welcomes new cohort of degree apprentices
This month, Amey Consulting welcomes 40 talented Graduate and Degree Apprentices to its Consultancy & Design and Advisory & Analytics businesses. In addition to Amey Consulting’s award-wining Rail and Civil Engineering Degree Apprentice schemes, three new programmes are being launched: Data Science, Environmental and Building Services. These will help bring new talent into an industry, while encouraging a diverse workforce and fostering skills in regional areas.
Data Science Degree Apprentices will be supported to achieve a Data Science (BSc) Degree while building real-world experience on the job in Amey Consulting’s Advisory & Analytics team. Partnering with York St John University will provide apprentices with the mathematical foundations and theoretical principles which will complement their practical project work in role. Apprentices will support Amey Consulting deliver efficiencies across the highways network as Data Science Partner to National Highways, as well as delivering Intelligent Infrastructure for Network Rail to significantly reduce delays.
Amey Consulting’s Environmental Practitioner Degree Apprenticeship Programme will see its apprentices gain an IEMA-accredited Environmental Management degree. Coventry University will support the apprentices’ practical development, with Amey Consulting’s Environment and Sustainability team working on environmental assessment and ecology, air quality, carbon modelling and landscape architecture. Apprentices will have the potential to work across Rail and Highways projects including the Transpennine Rail Route Upgrade, the A66 Trans-Pennine link, and National Highways Area 10.
Partnering with Liverpool John Moores University, the Building Services Degree Apprentices will achieve a BSc or BEng building services degree. The programme will help apprentices work towards technical and commercial management of projects which include systems such as: renewable and emerging technologies; energy management; heating; ventilation; air conditioning; drainage; lighting; power; water services; building management systems; life-safety systems; communications and building transportation. Apprentices will have the opportunity to support, among other areas, the work with Keolis Amey to upgrade the Core Valley Lines in Wales.
The degree programmes are fully funded, encouraging people from diverse backgrounds to enter the scheme. The structured development paths offer the opportunity to be fast-tracked to a position at the end of the apprenticeship.
