Three award wins in Staffordshire

The Stafford Western Access Route scheme has been awarded three prestigious Institution of Civil Engineers West Midlands awards at a virtual awards ceremony held last week (6 May 2021).

The scheme which will enable millions of pounds worth of new housing and business development to take place and improve traffic flow in the town centre has been crowned winner in three categories; Communications, Large Project and Overall Scheme award.

The submissions by the integrated Amey teams were recognised by the judges for the regular flow of information which was essential to ensure all stakeholders, businesses and residents were fully informed. The judges were impressed with the delivery of this extremely complex scheme and what a positive impact the Stafford Western Access Route will have for future years.

James Bailey, Assistant Director for Highways and the Built County said: “This is a fantastic achievement for the Stafford Western Access Route team. To win three top industry awards, including overall winner, shows the quality of this project and its delivery. It is a recognition of every member of the team from planning to construction and how we have liaised effectively with the public and our stakeholders. It also demonstrates the strength of the County Council-Amey partnership and our successful working with other organisations.”
