Amey Consulting wins place on £300m South East Wales Technical & Professional Services (SEWTAPS) Framework

Amey Consulting has won a place on the £300m South East Wales Technical and Professional Services Framework (SEWTAPS). The infrastructure and engineering consultancy will bring its design and maintenance capability and data driven, analytics and advisory offering to all public sector authorities and bodies across Wales.

The initial four-year framework will see Amey Consulting provide multi-discipline civil and highways, transportation, site supervision, geotechnical, master planning and urban design services across the region.

Key to Amey Consulting’s investment in Wales is a commitment to unlocking employment and business opportunities for local communities. The infrastructure and engineering consultancy has pledged to partner with local supply chains as part of the Wellbeing and Future generations Strategic approach, set out by the Welsh Government.

Amey Consulting will also be supporting the region’s Training and Regional Skills Partnership by providing new apprenticeship positions, ensuring apprentices achieve NVQ diplomas, which lead to degree qualifications. Between July 2018 and January 2020, Amey Consulting grew from 100 people in Wales to 350 and this will rise further once the framework is mobilised.

Speaking on the announcement, Alex Gilbert, Managing Director, Amey Consulting said: “We are delighted to have been appointed to the South East Wales Technical and Professional Services (SEWTAPS) Framework

“Amey Consulting will offer the region a wealth of experience across design, maintenance and operations, all underpinned by our data driven, analytics and advisory service.

“Our investment to Wales is not just about developing a safer, more efficient highways network. We have a commitment to connect communities and unlock economic opportunities that will benefit the people of Wales now and during Covid-19 recovery.

“We are proud to be delivering these works locally, bringing more jobs and supply chain opportunities to the region. Our apprenticeship programme and STEM ambassador programme will also ensure we are equipping the next generation of Welsh engineers with the skills needed to sustain a healthy industry.”

Amey Consulting’s STEM Ambassador Programme will see 200+ staff engage with young people in communities across Wales to generate enthusiasm for STEM subjects, promoting engineering as a future career.

Today’s news builds on Amey Consulting’s existing presence in Wales such as delivering improvements on the Core Valley Lines and designing the Mumbles Coastal protection project.

The programme is also aligned to Amey Consulting’s Creating Cohesive Communities project.  The research aims to understand the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic on community infrastructure with a focus on the Cardiff Capital Region.

The framework is open to all public authorities and bodies across the UK.
