Amey and HMPPS win the PFM Partnership Award for Corporate Social

Amey, a leading provider of critical facilities services to the public sector, and HMPPS, have won the Premises and Facilities Management (PFM) Partnership Award for Corporate Social Responsibility at a virtual ceremony held on 17 March 2021. The judges also awarded the entry the coveted overall winner for 2020.

Amey undertakes facilities management within 58 sites across the HMPPS estate and the pair have been recognised for the work they are doing to help support prisoner rehabilitation via the Clean, Rehabilitative, Enabling and Decent (CRED) programme.

The CRED programme, which is currently implemented within 20 prisons maintained by Amey allows residents to gain work experience while serving their sentences - helping them develop new skills and improve employability and wellbeing. The programme also contributes to better living standards and promotes a clean environment for both offenders and employees.

Upon completion of their sentence, the programme also provides employment opportunities. To-date, it has created over 48,860 rehabilitation hours for prisoners.
Amey Secure Infrastructure Managing Director, Craig McGilvray said: “We’re incredibly proud to have won this partnership award for the CRED programme. As a business, we’re focused on working with our customers to build social value into our operations. One way we’re doing this is by helping to transform offenders’ lives for the better. Not just throughout their sentence but by supporting them as they integrate back into society and the workplace.

This award is testament to the collective effort we have made to help offenders transform their lives by learning new skills, improving employability and increasing wellbeing within the prisons we maintain on behalf of the Ministry of Justice.” Cathy Robinson, Deputy Director of Prisons Facilities Management Delivery, MOJ said: “The CRED programme is a powerful example of how creative thinking can make better opportunities to help offenders into employment, and support cleaning and maintenance staff who work hard to keep our prisons safe and decent.”

Amey has also teamed up with Paint360, who will be the sole provider of environmentally friendly recycled paint for the CRED programme. It is estimated the paint provided by Paint360 will help save 26 tonnes of CO² in the 20 prisons where the CRED programme is currently operational.
