Amey steps in to deliver United States Visiting Forces (USVF) contract at five locations, increasing portfolio of Defence contracts across the UK

Amey has been contracted by the Defence Infrastructure Organisation (DIO) to deliver Facilities Management and project work at five United States Visiting Forces (USVF) locations across the UK.

The contract was officially handed over to Amey on 1st December and includes the provision of reactive maintenance, statutory and mandatory compliance tasks and additional works services at RAF Alconbury, Molesworth, Croughton, Fairford and other smaller sites along with the management of approximately 250 Service Family Accommodation (SFA) houses. Around 130 jobs will be transferred into the Amey business and our supply chain partners.

Amey will be drawing on the expertise of their local supply chain partners to deliver the scope of works whilst Amey’s highly skilled Defence teams will focus on the current condition of the assets to determine what work is required to demonstrate statutory and mandatory compliance.

The same application used in the Next Generation Estates Contracts (NGEC) will be used to record tasks and report on compliance to ensure a standard approach by Amey across its Defence contracts.

Amey’s existing Customer Service Centre (CSC) in Speke will also be utilised to schedule and manage works, providing 24/7 support to USVF. The CSC already serves Defence customers in the NGEC and understand the specialist requirements of our military community.

Amanda Fisher, CEO, Amey, said “We are delighted to have been recognised as a trusted partner of the Defence Infrastructure Organisation.  We will be drawing on our existing knowledge and operational understanding of the Defence Estate to manage this critical infrastructure over the next 18 months. As we begin to become more familiar with all the sites, we look forward to working with the DIO to deliver essential Facilities Management services and project work across all five locations. We look forward to transferring in 130 staff and inducting them into the professional and safe ways of working that is our focus in Amey.”

Richard McKinney, DIO’s Regional Delivery Director added “The contract handover will ensure that essential services at USVF sites can continue seamlessly and without interruption. As Amey already hold similar contracts at various DIO sites it should ensure a smooth transition and continued support to our USVF partners and their families.”

Amey will ensure that compliance is fully embedded over the next 18 months of the contract prior to the tendering process, expected to be in 2021.
