Amey named Diversity and Inclusion winner at Rail Partnership Awards
Amey’s rail business is celebrating after winning the Diversity and Inclusion award at the Rail Partnership Awards held in Birmingham recently. The business was also runner-up in the Investors in People category.
The award reflects the approach that Amey has taken to putting inclusion at the heart of everything it does, with bespoke training programmes and support networks to meet the diverse needs of its employees, as well as community engagement programmes, such as its STEM ambassador network to inspire the next generation of engineers within groups that have historically been under-represented in STEM careers.
Nicola Hindle, Managing Director for Consulting and Rail said: “I am proud to see our hard work to open up opportunities in our industry to a more diverse workforce receive this recognition.
“The steps we have taken as a business will ensure that Diversity and Inclusion is always a key part of how we do business, and never just a bolt-on activity. We will continue to work to make inclusivity part of both the industry’s and our own DNA.”
This award follows a similar win at the inaugural Women in Rail awards, where Amey was again recognised for its work with a Diversity and Inclusion award.
Amey is also the first in its industry to be awarded Leaders in Diversity status for its ongoing commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion and is the only company in the industry to hold both Investors in People Gold and Champion status.
The S&C North Alliance partnership between Amey and Network Rail was also a runner-up on the night for Best Collaboration, for its work to transform the UK’s approach to track works. The alliance has regularly set new standards of delivery and achieved UK firsts, such as handing back high-speed routes at their full operating speed of 125mph.
