Amey up for 4 awards at Highways Excellence Awards

Amey has been shortlisted for four awards in the Highways Excellence Awards tonight.

In the ‘major project’ category, we have been shortlisted for our work as part of the Midland Highway Alliance, where a railway bridge serving a new £38m business park in Lichfield, Staffordshire, was constructed on time, with cost savings and with strong community engagement with the project.

In the ‘most innovative highway authority scheme of the year’ we have been shortlisted for an innovative signalling system, the first of its kind in the UK, that uses thermal imaging to keep cyclists safe in a busy part of Liverpool in a scheme run in collaboration with the City Council.

We are competing in the ‘Road Marking Project of the Year’ category with a cycle scheme we delivered in Belfast where the city centre was connected the national cycle network resulting in increased rates of cycling and an enhanced street environment.

In the ‘Highway Partnership Award’ category, we are competing with Transport Scotland and other partners around the work done on the Forth Road Bridge following the discovery of a fracture of the steelwork. This was deemed “an event of national significance” by the Scottish Parliament and a successful travel plan was developed following the closure of the bridge.
