Amey joins forces with Kingston University to encourage more people into engineering

Leading public and regulated services provider, Amey, has announced a new partnership agreement with London’s Kingston University in a bid to encourage more graduates and young talent into engineering.

With skills shortages in Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) at an all-time high, the alliance will create new employment and training opportunities for the University’s students and alumni.

Amey’s Chief Executive, Mel Ewell said: "As a business, we believe that there are huge benefits from having close and direct links with the University with its diverse and talented student population.”

“We will be actively working together to encourage young talent to consider career options within our industry. This will not only help us to reduce the skills gap in key sectors such as engineering, but will also bring substantial benefits to our business, clients and the wider economy."

Kingston University has a long-standing history of working with industry businesses to support the development of talent in the workplace and leaders of the future – both in the UK and overseas.

Vice-Chancellor Professor Julius Weinberg said the activity with Amey would enhance students' learning experience and provide an insight in to professional practice. "This partnership is a model of how industry and universities should work together," he added. "Everyone wins when we understand each other's business."
