Business wide RoSPA Gold Awards fuel Amey's ambition to achieve zero harm
Leading UK public and regulated services provider, Amey, is celebrating its 11th consecutive Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) Gold Award win in recognition of improving health and safety practices.
Amey’s business divisions hold between 6-11 years of gold award status and business leaders are using the recent success to fuel commitment to achieving Target Zero – an initiative aimed at achieving zero harm.
Mel Ewell, Amey’s Chief Executive said: “It’s fantastic that we’ve been recognised for the work that we do to help keep our people safe. We however, cannot become complacent and must ensure that we continue doing everything we can to protect our workforce, our suppliers, as well as the public, in the environments in which we work.”
Gary Carvell, Group HSEQ Director for Amey said: “Target Zero has and always will be a core strategic objective for us and no other target is acceptable. We’ll be using the recent success to promote the work we’ve done so far and continue our drive to help achieve Target Zero.
The RoSPA Awards recognises commitment to continuous improvement in accident and ill health prevention at work. Through the scheme, judges consider entrants’ overarching occupational health and safety management systems, including practices such as leadership and workforce involvement.
David Rawlins, RoSPA’s awards manager, said: “The RoSPA Awards encourage improvement in occupational health and safety management. Organisations that gain recognition for their health and safety management systems, such as Amey, contribute to raising standards overall and we congratulate them.”
Target Zero, Amey’s in-house health and safety initiative outlines the role each employee plays in creating zero harm and each employee has signed up to the business-wide commitment of achieving zero harm together.
