Amey expands North of England presence through waste water contract win with Yorkshire Water
Leading public and regulated services provider, Amey, has been awarded a £113 million contract to 2020 to deliver waste water services across the whole of Yorkshire Water’s region. From 26th September, Amey will repair and maintain around 20,000 miles of sewer pipe which transports waste water from nearly two million homes to over 600 waste water treatment works in the area.
The contract award will see Amey expand its presence in the North of England and build upon its existing relationship with Yorkshire Water, having worked with them for five years. The service Amey will provide in the new contract is in addition to its current Yorkshire Water Framework which delivers non infrastructure projects in the region.
The new contract to repair and maintain the waste water network is designed to deliver the best possible service for customers at the best possible price. The contract, which runs until April 2020, has the option to be extended for a further five years.
Mel Ewell, CEO, Amey, said, “The awarding of this contract to Amey is testament to the strength of our relationship with Yorkshire Water and their trust in our ability to deliver services to the highest possible standards as well as our considerable experience in the waste water industry. We are delighted to expand the scope of our work with Yorkshire Water. Both our organisations will work together to improve essential services and provide an outstanding customer experience across the region."
Charlie Haysom, Yorkshire Water’s Director of Service Delivery, said: “This major contract has been designed to deliver the best possible service for our customers at the best price with the highest levels of safety”.
Amey already has a strong presence in the region through infrastructure services such as delivering highways maintenance and street lighting on behalf of Calderdale Council and Wakefield Council. Through the Building Schools for the Future initiative, Amey also delivers facilities management and IT services in Bradford.
