Amey HR Director named as top 10 HR practitioner

Valerie Hughes-D'Aeth, Group HR Director at Amey has been voted one of the UK’s top 10 most influential HR practitioners.

The annual ‘HR Most Influential 2012 Top Practitioners Award’ is voted for by HR academics and practitioners across the UK and organsied by HR Magazine. Valerie Hughes-D'Aeth was voted number 10 out of 30 top practitioners, awarded for their influence in the area of people strategy.

Valerie Hughes-D'Aeth said: “I am delighted and honoured to have been voted for this award. Amey has recently experienced a significant period of change, having grown from 8,000 to 12,000 employees within a couple of years. This has been a challenge, which led to a restructure of our HR services across our 600 locations.

“My focus is on continuing to provide a motivating environment for our employees as well as maintaining our reputation as an employer of choice so we continue to attract and retain top talent.”

Valerie Hughes-D’Aeth joined Amey, a leading UK infrastructure services provider in 2009 as Group HR Director, and has been responsible for developing and delivering the group HR and HSEA strategy through a period of significant growth. She was also instrumental in leading the business to achieve the Investors in People Gold standard.

Prior to joining Amey she was group HR director for Steria based in Paris with global responsibility for 20,000 employees. Hughes-D’Aeth’s earlier career was spent initially at Selfridges as a personnel manager and then working at EDS, which she joined while living in the Netherlands. Valerie is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development.

Amey has recently won a range of HR awards including Personnel Today Award 2011 for Innovation in Recruitment, HR Excellence Awards 2011 for the Most Effective Change Programme, and was the CIPD Overall Winner 2011.
