Amey Wins Prestigious FM Award
Leading infrastructure services provider Amey has won a national facilities management award for working with the public and charitable sectors to operate schools of maximum benefit to communities.
Amey won the Partners in Education FM category at the PFM (Premises and Facilities Management) Awards, for its involvement in the Belfast Schools Strategic Partnership – a seven-year agreement between Amey and the BELB (Belfast Education and Library Board). Through this, Amey led a consortium of local building contractors that built four post-primary schools and one primary school. The company also provides facilities management for the 30-year duration of the contract.
Gillian Duggan, Managing Director of Amey’s Built Environment division said: “Amey is focused on delivering innovative ideas which provide benefits not only to our clients, but also to the local communities we serve. We are delighted that our work with the BELB has been recognised by this award.”
Amey, working with registered charity Artemis, hires out the facilities of the five schools outside of academic hours at an affordable rate to a variety of people and community groups. Any financial surpluses are then fed back into the community and used for learning and skills activities that aim to provide future educational benefits.
Amey has successfully operated in Northern Ireland for over 10 years and employs in excess of 250 people across seven contracts. The company’s services include managing the entire Library information and communications technology infrastructure across 100 sites, supporting over 4,000 pupils across five schools in Belfast, managing the facilities of Belfast Metropolitan College and providing management and maintenance to sections of A1, M1, A4, A101 and M12.
