Amey Wins National Award for Helping Communities

Amey has been named Large Company of the Year in the Scottish Business in the Community Awards for helping excluded groups of people get back into work and caring for the environment. The accolade is widely acknowledged as one of the most influential in recognising responsible business.

Judges praised the way Amey had worked hard to promote corporate social responsibility across its business. This included providing customised training to 23 people from excluded groups – 19 of whom later secured permanent employment.

Amey also helped to promote healthy eating in the schools it manages, promoted road safety among its workforce and in the community and worked with the charity Keep Scotland Beautiful to clear up litter from the M8.

Brian Devlin, Business Director for Amey in Scotland, said: “These awards demonstrate Amey’s commitment to support the local communities we work in. We strive hard to deliver local training and create employment opportunities whenever possible – particularly for those furthest removed from the workplace.

“By working in close partnership with our key clients and many other local stakeholders, we can help support the local economy and generate better results for the wider community.”

Jane Wood, Chief Executive, Scottish Business in the Community, said: “Applications to this year’s Awards for Excellence in Scotland and SBC Company of the Year Awards truly demonstrate the quality of commitment to sustainable business. The high standard of best practice in place is a testament to the work of Scotland’s business sector and I would like to congratulate Amey in winning Scottish Business in the Community’s Large Company of the Year. Amey demonstrates an integrated and innovative approach to corporate social responsibility at all levels of the organisation and we look forward to working closely with Amey as we move forward.”
