Amey wins award for being considerate in Calderdale

Halifax-based company Amey has won a national award for the way it is delivering a £50 million contract to provide public services in Calderdale.

The company has won a silver Considerate Constructors Award for the way it is carrying out a package of highways, street lighting and winter maintenance services for Calderdale Council.

This involves working around-the-clock to service the 1090km road network, carry out major improvements in town centres, deal with flooding and even rescue livestock on the moors.

Judges commended Amey for being safe, considerate and respectful and for minimising its environmental impact. The panel praised Amey for ‘excellent achievement’ in responsibility and accountability.

Stuart Nichols, Contract Manager, and Gary Morgan, Maintenance Manager, collected the award during a ceremony at the Lowry Hotel in Manchester.

“We are very proud to have been selected from 7,600 sites to receive these awards,” says Stuart.

“As one of the UK’s leading highways maintenance companies, we continually strive to keep our road networks moving while minimising our impact on the environment. Winning this award is testament to the hard work of the whole team in achieving this target in Calderdale.”

Considerate Constructors Awards are designed to recognise and reward companies that have demonstrated an exceptional level of consideration towards the environment, their workforce and their neighbours. The scheme is run by a non-profit making independent organisation which was founded by the industry to improve its image.
