Amey expands in Colmore Plaza

Leading public services provider Amey is expanding its offices at Colmore Plaza to accommodate the specialist project team that will deliver the £2.7 billion Birmingham Highways PFI.

The company has taken an additional 6,098 sq ft on the third floor to accommodate the 80-strong project team.

Amey is already the largest occupier of Colmore Plaza. The company took floors four and five for its International Design Hub in one of the biggest office deals signed last year.  The company now has almost 52,000 sq ft office space in the 12-storey building.

The new workspace will be occupied by the team delivering the 25-year PFI partnership which was launched this month between Amey and Birmingham City Council. This will see Amey improving and maintaining 2,500km of road network, nearly 100,000 street lights, as well as over 850 highway structures and bridges across the city.

Mike Notman, from Amey who is the project director for the PFI, said: “By taking additional space in Colmore Plaza, Amey is further demonstrating its long-term commitment to the city and the wider West Midlands region. Bringing together all our people in one central hub will help us to innovate and deliver a more efficient and effective service for people of Birmingham.”

The office expansion follows a period of strong growth for Amey in the area. The company is also delivering the Highways Agency’s Area 9 MAC contract to maintain and improve the region’s motorways and trunk roads, and the West Midlands TechMAC – to upgrade technology systems and equipment on the motorway network. Together the two contracts are worth £300 million over the next five years.
