Amey wins second engineering consultancy contract with Roads Service Northern Ireland
Amey has been awarded its second contract of the year with Northern Ireland Roads Service, this time for the provision of consultancy services to assist in the delivery of major works schemes above £5m. Amey has successfully secured a place on Northern Ireland Roads Service’s Major Works Planning, Assessment and Delivery framework, along with five other consultants. The contract will commence this month and will run for two years, with the possibility of a two year extension.
In addition to the provision of design services, Amey will be responsible for land surveying, geotechnical and environmental investigation, engineering, transportation consultancy and drainage design, as well as statutory orders, contract documentation and site supervision.
This contract win follows Amey’s success earlier this year, which saw the organisation being awarded a three year partnership contract for the delivery of engineering consultancy services. A team of Amey consultants based in Belfast and supported by Amey offices UK-wide are already responsible for transport planning, infrastructure design, street lighting, project management, geotechnical and environmental investigation on Northern Ireland’s roads, bridges and footways.
Roads Service is an Executive Agency within the Department for Regional Development in Northern Ireland and has sole responsibility for just over 25,000km of public roads together with about 8,000km of footways, 6,000 bridges, 240,000 street lights and 270 public car parks across the province.
Mel Ewell, Chief Executive of Amey said
“Amey has been working in partnership with Roads Service Northern Ireland (RSNI) to deliver the Roads Service Programme for the past four years and we are delighted to be able to continue and expand our provision of highways consultancy services. We look forward to using our previous experience of working with RSNI and the additional benefits of providing consultancy support for both minor and major works programmes to develop efficiencies for our client and ultimately improve the road network of Northern Ireland.”
