Amey announces major deal to deliver full facilities management to the Department for Transport

Amey, the leading public services provider, has won a contract in excess of £25 million to deliver total facilities management to the Department for Transport. The contract, which commences on 1st July 2009, will see the company take responsibility for all facilities management services to the Department’s London Headquarters.

The contract requires Amey to provide a full range of services to the department’s ministerial headquarters at Great Minster House, as well as two other departmental buildings nearby. The buildings accommodate some 2,000 employees, within 25,000m2 of office accommodation, and include the offices of the Secretary of State for Transport, Geoff Hoon, Minister of State for Transport, Lord Adonis, two Parliamentary Under Secretaries as well as the Permanent Secretary and other senior civil servants.

Lasting an initial 5.5 years, with possible extensions for up to another 4.5 years, the contract will showcase Amey’s ability to deliver innovative solutions and continuous improvement to our customers .

Contractual responsibilities include: building engineering services, which includes minor works projects and fabric repairs; cleaning, waste disposal and pest control; catering, including both the staff restaurant and hospitality needs; reception and conferencing requirements; security and mail and porterage. Services will be delivered by a highly-trained Amey staff of approximately 130.
