Amey celebrates third Highways Agency TechMAC contract win worth £25m

The Highways Agency has awarded Amey its third Technology Managing Agent Contractor (TechMAC) contract, this time in the North East. Amey, one of the UK’s leading public services companies has already celebrated winning the South East and West Midlands TechMACs, making it the leading TechMAC provider in the UK, in terms of contracts.

The contract, worth £25m over five years, covers North East network Areas 12 and 14, including Yorkshire and Humber, Northumberland, Tyne & Wear, Durham and North Yorkshire. The strategic motorways and trunk roads that will be managed include parts of the M1, M18, M62, A1 (M) and A66.

Amey will be responsible for managing, maintaining and improving the technology systems and equipment along the region’s roads and motorways, including messaging signs, emergency telephones, CCTV cameras and traffic signals. The contract will commence on October 1st 2009 and will run for five years, with the potential for two one year extensions.
