Buckinghamshire County Council awards contract for managing client transport services to Amey

BUCKINGHAMSHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL is pleased to announce that Amey, one of the UK’s leading support service providers, has been awarded the contract for the management of Client Transport.

This means that, from June 1st 2008, Amey will be responsible for arranging the transport for more than 17,000 Buckinghamshire residents daily, including students to schools and colleges, safeguarded children and adult social care service users.

The signing of the contract marks the end of an 18-month review of the way client transport is delivered. From the outset, the aim has been to create a more efficient network of services, whilst maintaining the high standard of transport provided across Buckinghamshire.

Valerie Letheren, Cabinet Member for Transportation, said of the decision “Client Transport is integral to local communities across Buckinghamshire and is a lifeline to those who need to use it.  We are looking forward to working with Amey on continuing to provide high quality levels of transport and care for our residents. We are pleased that our dedicated and experienced staff will continue to be involved in providing Client Transport Services. There are exciting times ahead and we will be working together to build even better services for those who rely on them.”

Steve Helliwell, Managing Director of Logistics within Amey, added “Working with Buckinghamshire County Council to deliver these essential services to the community is a much welcomed opportunity for Amey. We are looking forward to working together to enhance and build on the existing provision in order to create a positive impact for all those that rely on the service.”
