Amey secures a contract extension with roads service in Northern Ireland
Amey’s Owen Williams business stream today announced it has been awarded a 12-month extension to its contract with Roads Service, an Executive Agency within the Department for Regional Development in Northern Ireland, worth £3 million a year.
Within the existing two plus two-year contract, Owen Williams, in partnership with the Road Service Consultancy (RSC), provides ‘enhanced consultancy services’ to Roads Service in the areas of transport planning, infrastructure design, street lighting, project management, geotechnical and environmental investigation, and design.
Roads Service is the sole body responsible for just over 25,000km of public roads together with about 8,000km of footways, 6,000 bridges, 240,000 street lights and 270 public car parks across the province.
Chris Webster, Executive Director, Amey, said: "We are extremely pleased to have gained this significant contract extension. Owen Williams is developing an impressive reputation in Ireland for first-class consultancy, and the extension of this contract is indicative of the value enhancing approach that Owen Williams has applied to its work with Roads Service.
He added: "This news demonstrates the quality and commitment that our staff brings to such projects and underlines Amey’s market leading position. We now look forward to further demonstrating our commitment by delivering a quality service across Northern Ireland in the next 12 months."
The contract commenced in April 2005 and the announcement of the extension means the contract will run until March 2008 with potential for a further one year extension.
