Amey Director appointed to the Board
Amey today announced the promotion of Chris Webster to Executive Director with a seat on the Amey plc and Amey UK plc board.
Mel Ewell, CEO of Amey, said of the promotion: “Chris has been instrumental in the development of Amey in the infrastructure services market and has ensured that Amey has become a leading provider of end-to-end services. I am delighted that Chris is joining the Executive and look forward to working with Chris to continue to develop Amey as a driving force in support services.”
Chris joined Amey in 1990, having spent his early career working on a variety of building and heavy civil engineering construction projects overseas and in the UK.
He initially worked for Amey in his home country of Yorkshire as a project manager on a number of civil engineering projects. In 1996, whilst working on the Highway’s Agency West Yorkshire and Humberside term contract Chris introduced the beginnings of partnering into highway term maintenance contracting.
Chris’s career remained committed to the area of highway management and maintenance and in 1998 he played a leading role in the establishment of Amey Highways Limited. In 2004, he became the Managing Director of Amey’s Infrastructure Services business unit that brought Amey’s highways, rail and local government capabilities together to facilitate an end-to-end service offering to clients together with streamlined working practices.
