Amey wins contract with TfL to maintain and improve North London's road network

Amey, a leading support services company, today announced it has been awarded a £280 million contract by Transport for London (TfL) to provide road maintenance and improvement across north London.  The contract terms for six years, with yearly increments up to the ten-year mark.

Amey will support and build upon TfL’s current investment in improving the capital’s road network.  Through the contract Amey will provide routine highway maintenance (agreed in advance), reactive operations and additional maintenance and improvement capital works as instructed by TfL.

This new approach will allow for better coordination between TfL and Amey and will enable a tailored standard of service for the area that will result in an improved service to TfL and the general public.

Mel Ewell, Chief Executive, Amey, said: “We are delighted to partner with TfL on this critical contract. Providing services on London’s busy road network is an exciting opportunity for Amey. We believe we have the necessary skills and expertise to successfully deliver the continued improvements required and to ensure a road network fit for the 21st Century.

“We have been recognised by TfL for our quality of service and our commitment to improving diversity in the workforce and we look forward to working with them to deliver a first-class programme that improves London’s roads for both drivers and pedestrians.”

TfL’s Director of Road Network Management, Chris Connor, said: “These new contracts will see TfL taking a much more hands-on approach to managing contracting works taking place for us on the Transport for London Road Network.  As a winning bidder, Amey proved one of the best and most economically advantageous tenders based on the quality of service provision, risk mitigation and price.”
