Welcome to the Amey STEM Ambassadors page; this is your one-stop-shop guide to being an Amey STEM Ambassador.
Objective for Amey STEM Ambassadors:
To use your enthusiasm and commitment to encourage young people to enjoy STEM subjects and to illuminate their futures by guidance.
The role of an Amey STEM Ambassador is to:
- encourage the next generation by creating enthusiasm and passion for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics
- deliver and support activities that engage and raise awareness for STEM subjects including; Workshop Challenges, Subject Talks, School Visits, Presentations, Curriculum Support, Careers Event
- help create a pipeline for talent to join and grow with Amey
- transcend all ages and backgrounds and be totally inclusive
What does it take to become a Amey STEM Ambassador?
- A desire to inspire young people into a career in engineering
- You DO NOT need to be an engineer to be a STEM Ambassador! You just need a passion for STEM subjects.
STEM Net Ambassadors
STEM NET is a UK wide network of STEM Ambassadors: over 30,000 brilliant and inspiring volunteers. As an Amey STEM Ambassador we encourage you to register as an ambassador with STEM NET.
How do I register to become a STEM Ambassador?

What support will I get?
- You will receive an induction (a 2-3 hour session) to familiarise yourself with the programme and provide tips about working effectively with young people
- STEM NET currently offers their STEM Ambassadors three types of optional, free training packages. These are intended to help you develop your skills and confidence, increase the positive impact of your volunteering on young people, and help you get even more enjoyment out of volunteering.
- STEM NET process an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (formerly Criminal Records Bureau)check – which will support you in accessing and visiting schools
- You will be assigned a STEM Ambassadors Management Contract Holder as a point of contact, who will provide you with support and guidance during your time as an Ambassador, e.g. activity worksheets, brokering contact with a particular school you would like to work with etc.
According to STEM NET; 55% of pupils say they enjoy science, this increases to 71% for pupils who have had contact with a STEM Ambassador
